The Wifi Shoe – A step in the wrong direction
Ok. Don’t get me wrong here. I’m a big geek at heart who loves his computer and gadgets. But when technology and fashion intersect it usually ends up being a really stupid idea. Case in point these new sneakers by MSTRPLN in collaboration with Ubiq Boutique in Philadelphia.
The LED light covered footwear is designed to detect Wi-Fi wireless internet hot-spots wherever the user may roam. Uhh, doesn’t the iPhone in your pocket do that? How about designing something a little more useful like a sneaker that detects doggie poo or gum before the user steps in it? Now that’s a shoe I would buy.
Laugh at anyone who dishes out big cash for these ridiculous things, they will deserve it. Or better yet, laugh at me if you think I’m completely out of touch. Just don’t laugh at my shoes.
