Screw Head Classifications

It’s taken me a lifetime to figure out what the hell a Philips screwdriver looks like, don’t even get me started with the weird ones like Tri-Wing, Clutch and Quadrex. Seriously, who’s the numb nut picking all these screw ball names given to screw drivers.

Hopefully this chart will help you like it’s helped me.

  • Whoa! This needs some serious photographic memory in order to memorize each one of them.
  • Thanks for the useful and interesting post. It made me surfing through the web, and I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that Henry Phillips is considered to be the inventor of the first fastening device for crosshead screws in 1934. As a designer I really liked his Snake-eye, Allen and SupaDriv screwdrivers, but I don't give a damn what are they for =)
